Karl-Anthony Towns to Build State-of-the-Art Basketball Facility in Dominican Republic
NBA All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns, born in New Jersey, USA, but with roots in the Dominican Republic, is set to give back to his community in a big way.
Towns has decided to build a basketball facility to help children in the Dominican Republic in honor of his late mother, providing them with access to top-notch coaching and state-of-the-art facilities.
The facility, which will be built in Santiago, Dominican Republic, will feature physical therapy, classrooms, conference rooms, and more, offering a safe haven for children who lack resources.
Construction of the facility is expected to begin next year and be completed in 2026, providing a space for children to develop life skills, social skills, and pursue their dreams.
I’m so lucky to be able to live the American dream.
However, seeing America through my mother’s eyes was important.
I saw how hard my mother had to work to feel American.
So I wanted to take the resources I had here and bring them back to my hometown so that my children could have the best facilities and opportunities.
I wanted to not only earn money for my family, but also give them a chance to pursue their dreams.
In addition to basketball-related facilities, the complex will also include two soccer fields, four baseball fields, and a volleyball court, providing a space for children to engage in various sports and activities.
It’s a safe haven for children who find themselves in a variety of situations and lack resources.
Even if you don’t become an NBA or WNBA player, professional baseball player, volleyball player, or great soccer player, you can still dream.
I think it’s really great to be able to develop life skills, social skills, and learn to be passionate, determined, and dedicated to something.
The facilities that Towns builds will undoubtedly attract many children who dream of success in sports, and there is no doubt that someday an athlete will be born who will inherit Towns’ will.
