Yunnan Sports Vocational College Transforms Weixin County Rural Primary School Playground
Since 2015, Yunnan Sports Vocational and Technical College has been dedicated to improving rural education infrastructure in Weixin County. The college has been working to fill the gaps in education and people’s livelihood, expanding assistance channels and areas, and providing solid guarantees for the high-quality development of education in assisted villages and communities.
As a sports-oriented college, Yunnan Sports Vocational College has been utilizing its advantages to transform “blood transfusion” into “blood production”. The college has been actively carrying out education and sports assistance, helping children in mountainous areas obtain a good educational environment and educational resources, and improving local teaching conditions.
In August 2023, the first phase of the project to pave the basketball court of Anle Primary School with silicone PU materials was completed and put into use after passing the acceptance. The open and flat basketball court greatly improved the “appearance” of the rural school and became a “paradise” for children’s campus cultural life.
In August 2024, the second phase of the renovation of the Anle Primary School’s plastic track, badminton court, and volleyball court was successfully completed and put into use after passing the acceptance inspection. The plastic track has many advantages, such as durability, easy maintenance, and environmental protection, providing students with a safe and comfortable teaching and sports environment.
After the newly built basketball court, plastic track, badminton court, and volleyball court are put into use, the primary school can offer full physical education classes and carry out physical activities during large breaks and one hour of daily campus sports, greatly improving the students’ sports conditions.
Since the launch of village-based assistance work in 2015, Yunnan Institute of Physical Education and Technology has set up scholarships for designated villages and funded a total of 578 students. Among them, 6 students were admitted to master’s programs and 1 student was admitted to doctoral programs, completely rewriting the local history of having no highly educated talents in the past.
Jiang Qing, an outstanding student from Anle Village who has received assistance and is currently a doctoral student at Sichuan University, expressed his gratitude to the Institute of Physical Education and Technology for creating a high-quality educational environment for the students of Anle Village and helping many children like him get out of the mountains.
The village work team of Yunnan Institute of Physical Education will continuously improve its working methods based on the village conditions and take more pragmatic measures to effectively solve problems and do practical things for the masses, enhancing the people’s sense of gain and happiness.
