2024 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Finals Kick Off in Xiaoshan
On the 7th, the opening ceremony of the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Finals was held in Xiaoshan, marking the first time a Chinese city has hosted the prestigious event. The two-day tournament will feature a total of 12 single-round games and 5 knockout games to determine the 2024 season champion.
Jovana Vukoje, Deputy Director of the FIBA 3×3 Basketball Department, attended the event, while Xu Jicheng, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, announced the opening. Jiang Yongzhu, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and District Mayor, delivered a speech, and Deputy District Mayor Yang Xincheng was also in attendance.
Jiang Yongzhu extended a warm welcome to all the leaders, guests, athletes, coaches, and referees present, expressing his heartfelt thanks to friends from all walks of life who have supported the economic and social development of Xiaoshan. He highlighted Xiaoshan’s goal of building a “core area of the city of international games” and its achievements in hosting numerous international and national events.
Basketball is a beloved sport in Xiaoshan, with over 300 teams participating in the village BA and city BA leagues this year, attracting over 4,200 participants and 6.5 million online and offline spectators. The FIBA Women’s 3×3 Series Finals is expected to bring an unforgettable experience to fans, showcasing the charm of Xiaoshan’s mountains, rivers, and vibrant culture.
The FIBA Women’s 3×3 Series was founded in 2019 as the highest-level women’s professional competition in the FIBA 3×3 competition system. This season’s tournament features a total of 20 games, with a prize of over 1.4 million US dollars. Eight teams are participating in the finals, including the U23 Chinese team as the host, and seven teams determined by the points ranking of the sub-station competitions: Canada, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, and the U24 Chinese team.
