Slam Dunk Style: Nike Unveils Vibrant ‘Harlem Globetrotters’ Dunk Low Sneakers
Nike Releases Dunk Low Inspired by the Harlem Globetrotters
Nike has released the Dunk Low, inspired by the Harlem Globetrotters, an exhibition basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. The shoe is dressed in the uniform colors of the team. The perforated white leather upper is combined with off-white smooth leather overlays. The inner lining, heel tab, and outsole are light blue. The yellow and red polka dot Swoosh adds a sharp accent.
The Harlem Globetrotters were founded in 1926 by basketball coach Abe Saperstein. Until the late 1940s, the team competed in tournaments as a professional team, but their play gradually shifted towards show-like performances, and they became popular as a performance that combined basketball skills with entertainment. They now hold world tours that visit cities all over the world.
In Europe, the shoes are expected to go on sale at Nike’s online store in December for around 120 euros (approximately 19,000 yen). It has not yet been decided whether they will be released in Japan.
