Smartphone Prices Surge Due to Chip Shortage
Smartphone Prices Rise Amid Component Shortages
Smartphone distributors in Indonesia are raising prices due to a shortage of key semiconductor components, particularly DRAM adn NAND memory. The scarcity is driving up production costs, and industry analysts believe increased demand from the artificial intelligence sector is a contributing factor.
Abee Hakim, Head of PR for Xiaomi Indonesia, stated that price increases are unavoidable given the limited supply of essential components. However, Xiaomi is working to maintain product appeal by continuing to offer value to consumers.
“We will continue to deliver relevant innovations for young people and all Xiaomi users. The value we offer is appropriate and the best for them,” Hakim told Bisnis on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Xiaomi is currently monitoring market dynamics and assessing the impact of rising production costs on sales performance. The company is also developing strategies to prevent price pressures from diminishing consumer interest.
