China Open Badminton Team Secures Four Titles
The 2024 Victor China Open Badminton Championships concluded in Changzhou, Jiangsu, with the Chinese team emerging victorious in the men’s, women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles championships.
The China Open, a BWF Super 1000 event, witnessed several upsets and the elimination of high-ranking players. However, the Chinese team’s performance was a highlight of the tournament.
The women’s singles final saw Wang Zhiyi defeat 18-year-old Japanese teenager Miyazaki Yuka 2:0, marking her first Super 1000 final victory. Weng Hongyang also secured his first Super 1000 championship by defeating world No. 6 Kodai Naraoka 2:0 in the men’s singles final.
The women’s doubles final was an all-Chinese affair, with the “post-00” team Li Yijing/Luo Xumin defeating Li Wenmei/Zhang Shuxian to win their first Super 1000 championship.

Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping secured the mixed doubles title by defeating the Malaysian pair Goh Xun Huat/Lai Jie Jing. Despite a slow start, they adjusted their strategy and won the championship with a reversal of 21:14, 21:17.
The men’s doubles final was a closely contested match, with the Chinese team He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu facing the Malaysian combination of Goh Shi Fei/Izuddin. Although they won the first game easily, Ren Xiangyu suffered a waist injury, which affected his performance in the subsequent games. Despite his efforts, they ultimately lost the match 17:21.

Ren Xiangyu expressed his disappointment and frustration after the game, stating that he was “unhappy” and that losing the game in this way was “very helpless.”
