Receiving dental treatment can be a daunting task for individuals with disabilities. However, thanks to the Incheon Disabled Dental Care Volunteer Association, many are now able to access the care they need.
On the 21st, six members of the association visited Michuhol Purnae in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, to provide dental services to nine severely disabled individuals. The team, led by Director Park Sang-il, used a mobile dental treatment device to examine and treat the patients.
Breaking Down Barriers to Dental Care
Jang Kyung-hee, director of the Michuhol Purnae Center, expressed her gratitude for the association’s efforts. “These patients often struggle with even opening their mouths, making it difficult to receive dental treatment. We are thankful for the association’s visit, which has made it possible for them to receive the care they need.”
The Incheon Disabled Dental Care Volunteer Association has been providing dental services to severely disabled individuals in the Incheon area since 2002. With around 40 members, the association aims to make dental care more accessible to those who need it most.
A Commitment to Care
Park Sang-il, head of the volunteer group, emphasized the importance of providing dental care to individuals with disabilities. “People with disabilities often face significant barriers when trying to access dental treatment. We hope to make a difference by providing care to those who need it most.”
The association plans to continue providing dental services to other facilities, including Shalomwon, a nursing home for the severely disabled located in Gyodong-do, Ganghwa-do.
