Taron Egerton Stars in Apple TV+ Crime Drama ’smoke’

Taron Egerton, known for his role in Black Bird, reunites with creator Dennis Lehane in Smoke, a new crime drama series now streaming on Apple TV+. The series, inspired by actual events, centers on Dave Gudsen, an arson investigator played by Egerton, and detective Michelle Calderon, portrayed by Jurnee Smollett, as thay team up to pursue two serial arsonists.
The cast also includes Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Greg Kinnear, and John Leguizamo. The first two episodes of this Apple TV+ series premiered June 27, with subsequent episodes released weekly until Aug. 15, 2025.
The show’s theme song, “Dialing In,” was written specifically for Smoke by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans, known for their work on Ozark, composed the score.
Beyond Yorke’s contribution, the series features tracks from alt-J, Dropkick Murphys, and others. episode one includes ‘I Just Wont To Celebrate’ by rare Earth, ‘Naw Naw’ by LoneMoon & shadient, and ‘Left Hand Free’ by alt-J.
