Thai Woman Survives Harrowing Snake Attack in Her Kitchen

In a terrifying incident‍ that shook a Thai village, an old woman ⁣was ⁣suddenly attacked by ⁣a giant snake while doing routine household chores.

Within moments, the kitchen⁤ turned into a battlefield, and Aram Aronrog felt helpless in front of‍ the power of this reptile, which tightly wrapped its body around him, trapping him in a narrow space.

Fortunately, he managed⁣ to survive after a bitter‌ struggle that ⁤lasted for several hours, as he called for help from neighbors who immediately called the rescue team.

“I ⁢was going to fill a⁤ bucket with water, and when I sat down, the snake bit me,” Arunroj,‍ 64, told Thai newspaper Thierath. ⁢”When I looked, I saw him turn around,” he added.

He added that the snake, which was‍ four to five meters (13 to 16 feet) long, wrapped around his body and held him down until he was dropped on the ‍kitchen floor.

Snakes are considered ‍non-venomous animals,⁢ as they kill their prey by slowly squeezing them until they lose consciousness.

According to police officer Anusorn Ongmali, who spoke to The Associated Press, when he arrived at the scene,‍ the woman was still leaning against her door,‌ looking tired and pale,⁣ while the snake coiled around her.

Police and animal control officers used an iron rod to ‌hit the⁣ snake on the head until it released its grip and scurried away before anyone could catch it.

All in all, Arum spent almost two hours in the clutches of the snake on⁤ Tuesday night.

Although she suffered several bites, she⁢ appeared to be unharmed, as ‍she appeared in videos speaking to Thai media after the incident.

Encounters ⁤with snakes are common in Thailand, where 26 people died from venomous snake bites last ‍year, according to official⁤ figures.

About 12,000 people were treated ⁢for venomous bites from snakes and other animals in 2023.

The ⁣reticulated python is Thailand’s largest snake, typically measuring between 1.5 m⁤ and 6.5 m (5 ⁢to 21 ft) in length and weighing about 75 kilograms (165 lb). Some of⁣ these snakes have been found to be 10 meters (33 ft) long and weigh‌ 130 kilograms (287 lb).
