Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Blows the Competition Away: 56% Faster GPU Speeds Revealed
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 GPU Performance: What to Expect
Qualcomm is set to launch its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset in October 2024, and the tech world is abuzz with excitement. One of the most significant upgrades in this new chipset is the Adreno 830 GPU, which promises a substantial boost in performance.
A recent test conducted by QRD (Qualcomm Reference Device) on Weibo, a popular Chinese social media platform, has shed some light on the GPU’s capabilities. The test, which used 3DMark’s Wild Life program, revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 GPU has a clock speed of 1.15GHz and supports up to 166 frames per second.
Although this is slightly lower than the 1.25GHz test results published by Ice Universe, it’s still an impressive feat. The difference in clock speeds may be due to the chipset version used in the test.
Another test conducted using GFX Bench’s Aztec Ruins High program showed that the Adreno 830 GPU supports 125 frames per second, outperforming the Adreno 750 on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which supports 96 frames per second.
The first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset are expected to be the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, followed by the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, set to launch in early 2025, will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Interestingly, the performance test results for this device have already been revealed, showing that it may come with an overclocked speed of up to 4.32GHz, surpassing the 4.1GHz speed indicated by previous tests on other smartphones.
