SEOUL, South Korea (april 28, 2025) — The Sogang Min Kwan-kwan Foundation announced today the recipients of the 17th annual sogang Sports Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in sports both nationally and internationally. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 9 at the Koreana Hotel in Seoul.
Asian Mountain Federation Chairman Takes Top Honor
The chairman of the asian Mountain Federation has been named the grand prize winner. Lee, who first scaled Dongguk University in 1980, also conquered the 8,156-meter Manaslu, a feat that marked the first Korean ascent of the mountain. His contributions extend to the Korea Mountain Federation, where he has been a key figure since 2005. Furthermore, in 1990, Lee established the Taein Sports Scholarship Association, providing scholarships to 714 promising athletes over 35 years.
Paris Olympics Achievement Award
The Jeonggang Line Paris Olympic team, which secured 32 medals and an eighth-place overall ranking at last year’s games, will receive the Achievement Award. The team’s performance marked a significant milestone for South Korean athletics.
