Project Overview
Members of the public are invited to provide feedback on plans for the Rosefield Solar Farm, a proposed renewable energy project located between buckingham and Aylesbury in the United Kingdom. The project includes provisions for battery storage to enhance grid stability.
The Planning Inspectorate officially accepted the application for examination on October 24, 2023, marking a significant step forward in the development process. The project is being developed by EDF power solution UK and PS Renewables.
Community Feedback drives Revisions
EDF power solution UK’s Director of Storage, Solar and Private Wire, Matthew Boulton, acknowledged the importance of community input, stating, “We would like to thank everyone who has taken their time to share their views with us over the past two years.” He emphasized that community feedback has been “crucial in helping us to refine our plans.”
Following a second round of public consultation, the plans have been updated to address concerns raised by residents. These revisions include relocating solar panels further from homes and villages, the addition of 4 kilometers of new hedgerows, and the creation of over 8.5 hectares of new woodland. The location of the proposed substation has also been adjusted based on community requests.
Community Benefits and Project Details
The Rosefield Solar Farm project will include a community benefit fund of £400 per megawatt of installed capacity. This fund will provide resources for local projects and initiatives within the surrounding communities.
matt Hazell, co-owner and director at PS Renewables, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress, noting that this is their fourth Development Consent Order (DCO) application to reach the examination stage. A DCO is required for nationally significant infrastructure projects.
How to Participate
The application is currently in the pre-examination stage. Individuals can register to participate in the examination process by submitting a “relevant representation” to the Planning Inspectorate. The deadline for submissions is December 12, 2023.
Further facts and details on how to submit a representation can be found on the Planning Inspectorate’s website.
