The Somerville, Massachusetts comedy community is rallying around Bob’s Burgers voice actor and comedian Eugene Mirman after he was seriously injured in a car crash in Bedford, New Hampshire earlier this week.

Mirman, a staple in the Somerville comedy scene, was driving an electric car that burst into flames after colliding with a concrete toll booth, according to reporting from WCVB. A member of Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail pulled him from the wreckage.

Owners of Goofs Comedy Club, Isabelle Thurston and Ryan Howell, have been in contact with Mirman since the accident and report that he is on the mend. They described him as deeply committed to the local arts and comedy community.

He cares so deeply, like so deeply about community.

Mirman is well-known for frequently performing sets at Goofs Comedy Club, often using the venue to prepare for larger shows and specials. He’s been a regular presence at the club since they moved to their current location.

According to WCVB, Mirman’s agent has requested privacy as he recovers from what are described as serious injuries. The agent emphasized that Mirman consistently prioritizes comedy, community, and family.

The outpouring of support highlights Mirman’s significant contributions to the Somerville arts scene. Friends and colleagues describe him not only as a talented comedian but also as a wonderful neighbor who actively participates in local cultural events.

If there’s something happening in Somerville arts related culture related, like he is really there and and he’s not just a good friend, he’s a wonderful neighbor to have.

WCVB reporting

Mirman, who grew up in Massachusetts, is widely recognized for his voice work as Gene Belcher on the animated series Bob’s Burgers. He is also a successful stand-up comedian with a dedicated following.

The community is sending its love and wishes for a full recovery, expressing hope that Mirman will return to the stage when he is ready. A Facebook post from WKRG News 5 from 13 hours ago also noted the accident and included a photo of Mirman performing a comedy show in Somerville, MA.

As of Friday, April 3, 2026, details regarding the extent of Mirman’s injuries remain limited, respecting the wishes of his agent. However, the overwhelming support from his peers and the Somerville community underscores his importance to the local comedy landscape.
