Sony Group Corporation and Bandai Namco Group have announced an expanded strategic partnership, aiming to leverage their combined strengths to create new entertainment experiences and broaden the global appeal of beloved intellectual properties (IP), particularly in the realms of anime and gaming. This collaboration builds upon a history of prosperous joint ventures in games, anime, and music, promising to unlock new avenues for content creation and fan engagement.
Expanding Horizons: From Games to Immersive Experiences
The core of this enhanced partnership lies in the joint development and promotion of IP owned by Bandai Namco, a powerhouse known for iconic franchises like Tekken and Pac-Man. Sony, with its extensive capabilities in content production and distribution, particularly through its anime streaming giant Crunchyroll, is poised to play a pivotal role. Crunchyroll boasts over 15 million paid subscribers worldwide, providing a important platform for reaching anime enthusiasts globally.
