Apple TV has unveiled the first look at “Star City,” a new space-race drama series created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, set to premiere on May 29, 2026. The eight-episode series, produced by Sony Pictures Television, expands the universe of “For All Mankind” by exploring the Soviet space program from behind the Iron Curtain.
The series stars Rhys Ifans as the Chief Designer, Anna Maxwell Martin as Lyudmilla Raskova, head of the KGB surveillance department at Star City, and Agnes O’Casey as Irina Morozova, a recent addition to the surveillance team. Additional cast members include Alice Englert as Anastasia Belikova, an untested female cosmonaut; Solly McLeod as Sasha Polivanov, a reckless cosmonaut; Adam Nagaitis as Valya Markelova, a highly respected cosmonaut; Josef Davies as Sergei Nikulov, a young engineer at Soviet Ground Control; Priya Kansara as Lakshmi, a gifted scientist; Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Tanya Markelova, a cosmonaut’s wife; and Eadie Johnson as Zoya.
“Star City” is described as a propulsive paranoid thriller that takes place during the pivotal moment when the Soviet Union became the first nation to land a man on the moon in the alternate history of “For All Mankind.” The series focuses on the lives of cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers embedded within the Soviet space program, highlighting the risks they took to advance human space exploration.
The show is created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, with Wolpert and Nedivi serving as showrunners and executive producers alongside Moore. Additional executive producers include Maril Davis and Andrew Chambliss of Tall Ship Productions, and Steve Oster. Sony Pictures Television is producing the series for Apple TV.
Apple TV announced that “Star City” will debut globally with two episodes on Friday, May 29, 2026, followed by one new episode every Friday through July 10, 2026. The release date aligns with the previously announced premiere window for the series.
