SOOP Reaches Milestone in Broadcasting Youth and Amateur Sports Competitions
Personal broadcasting platform SOOP announced on the 5th that the number of youth and amateur sports competitions broadcasted on the platform this year exceeded 33,000 times.
Since 2020, SOOP has been broadcasting youth leagues and amateur leagues, focusing on popular sports such as baseball and soccer. As part of this, SOOP planned and produced the broadcast of the 1st President’s Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament in May of this year. Last year, it also formed a partnership with the Korea Baseball Organization.
In addition to major sports, the broadcasting scope is being expanded to include lifestyle sports such as billiards and bodybuilding, as well as non-mainstream sports like rugby and weightlifting. SOOP has currently formed partnerships with a total of 20 sports organizations including the Korea Baseball Organization, the Korea Paralympic Committee, the Korea Rugby Association, and the Korea Bodybuilding Association.
SOOP explained that after counting the number of youth sports-related content broadcast domestically, they found that their platform accounted for 80% of the total. A total of 33,000 broadcasts were made in the youth and amateur sports category as of September of this year, averaging 133 broadcasts per day. The cumulative number of viewers was approximately 2.8 million, and this year alone, approximately 2,000 people, mainly parents, have started watching new amateur sports broadcasts.
SOOP is continuously upgrading convenience and broadcasting technology such as user interface (UI), scoreboard, and camcorder that take advantage of the characteristics of each sport. They will continue to develop technology as well as support projects in order to activate the sports ecosystem of various sports.
