A Career in Photography Interrupted by Repeated Diagnoses
Thibeault has spent roughly fifteen years building a career in photography, conducting workshops both in Quebec and internationally following her retirement. Despite her busy schedule running these workshops and traveling for her craft, she has faced recurring skin cancers.
Reflecting on her latest medical test, Thibeault described an immediate effort to shift her focus upon leaving her last medical appointment. She noted that she put music on in her car and consciously disconnected from the daily news cycle to manage the stress of the diagnosis.
Thibeault Treats New Skin Cancer Growth
The newest growth appeared near her hairline. It’s another skin cancer that I’ve discovered at the hairline on my forehead.
Previous attempts to treat the lesion by burning it off during the prior year were unsuccessful. Despite needing to address yet another malignant spot, Thibeault expressed resilience and stated she feels well-monitored by her medical team, while acknowledging a sense of fatigue regarding the repeated treatments.
Public Health Advocacy for Skin Cancer Prevention
Alongside discussing her personal health status, Thibeault highlighted ongoing public awareness efforts. She pointed to a skin cancer prevention campaign aimed at addressing a gap in public health initiatives, noting that the government of Quebec had not previously run a campaign specifically targeting this issue.
