Sounders FC Drawn into Star-Studded Group for 2025 FIFA Club ‍World Cup

RENTON,WASH. – Sounders FC will face some⁣ of the world’s biggest clubs in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup,⁣ after being drawn into⁣ Group B alongside European giants paris Saint-Germain and ​Atlético Madrid, and also ‍Brazilian powerhouse Botafogo. The tournament,‍ featuring 32 of ⁣the world’s top clubs, will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, across 12 locations in‌ the United States.

Seattle’s home turf, lumen Field,⁤ will host‍ six ⁢matches, including all three of ⁢Sounders ‌FC’s group Stage encounters. This marks the Rave Green’s first-ever competitive or friendly matchup against any of ⁢their Group Stage opponents.

“This is a fantastic opportunity ‍for​ our club and our city to​ showcase⁢ ourselves on​ the global stage,” said Sounders FC Head ⁤Coach Brian Schmetzer. ‌”We’re ‍excited to test ourselves against some of ⁣the best teams in ​the world and give our fans‍ an unforgettable experience.”

Sounders FC qualified for the Club World Cup after winning the 2022 Concacaf⁢ Champions Cup, becoming the ‌only ⁤MLS side​ to conquer the continental⁢ competition. Thay are one ‍of two‌ MLS clubs in the tournament, alongside Inter‍ Miami CF, who were selected‌ by FIFA ‌as the host ⁤country representative after winning the 2024 Supporters’ shield.

The ​Rave Green kick​ off their campaign against 2024 Copa Libertadores champion⁣ Botafogo, a historic South American club⁤ currently leading the Brazilian top flight.

Next ⁣up is‌ a clash with Spanish powerhouse Atlético ‍Madrid, an 11-time La Liga champion and 10-time Copa del Rey winner. Currently sitting third in La Liga, Atlético qualified for the​ Club World Cup based‌ on its UEFA ranking over the past four years.

Seattle‌ concludes the⁤ group Stage against ‍French giants paris Saint-germain,a 12-time Ligue 1 champion,including the 2023-2024​ campaign.PSG, currently leading the ⁣2024-2025 Ligue 1 standings, also qualified based on its UEFA‌ ranking.

sounders FC finished the 2024 MLS regular season ‌fourth in the⁤ Western Conference, ‌advancing to ​the Western Conference Final before falling to the LA Galaxy. The club also reached the 2024 Lamar⁤ Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals and the ⁤Leagues Cup 2024 Quarterfinals, accumulating ⁤a⁤ 22-13-12 record across all competitions.
