Soundside Music Festival Canceled Connecticut
Soundside Music Festival Canceled for 2025 Amidst Low Ticket Sales and Past Hiccups
The Soundside Music Festival, a rebranded event that replaced the established Sound On Sound festival, has been officially canceled for 2025. Social media pages for the festival have also been deleted, fueling speculation that this cancellation might be permanent.
According to a report by CT Insider, a local government official indicated that the primary reason for the cancellation was likely a significant drop in ticket sales. Thomas Gaudett stated, “It’s our understanding that this year’s line-up was drawing a lot fewer attendees than we have seen in the last few years. And that may have had an impact on the decision to cancel.”
The 2025 lineup was set to feature prominent artists such as Weezer, Djo, Japanese Breakfast, The Last Dinner Party, Inhaler, Alex Warren, and Remi Wolf, among others. This cancellation marks a significant setback for the festival, which was only in its second year under the new Soundside branding.
Soundside Music Festival launched in 2024, evolving from the Sound On Sound festival that was founded in 2020. The rebranding brought in a new promoter, C3 Presents, a company renowned for managing major music events like austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Governors Ball. The inaugural Soundside festival in 2024 boasted an impressive roster of performers, including Noah Kahan, Goo Goo Dolls, Fleet Foxes, Boyz II Men, Bleachers, Norah Jones, and Teddy Swims.
However, the 2024 event wasn’t without its challenges. A major headlining performance by the Foo Fighters on the final night of the weekend festival was abruptly canceled. The band was subsequently replaced by Jack White and Greta Van Fleet,a last-minute change that likely impacted the overall attendee experience. The combination of past disruptions and the recent downturn in ticket sales appears to have led to the tough decision to cancel the 2025 iteration of the festival.
