South Africa Condemns Attack in Aleppo and Idlib, Supports UN Peace Efforts in Syria

South ​Africa Condemns⁤ Deadly Attacks in Syria, ⁢Calls for Peaceful⁤ Resolution

Pretoria, South Africa – The South African government has expressed deep concern⁣ over the recent offensive in Aleppo and Idlib, Syria, wich has resulted in civilian casualties, widespread destruction, and displacement. ​

The ⁣attacks,carried ‌out by Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS),a⁤ group designated⁤ as ⁤a terrorist organization ⁢by the UN Security Council,and a coalition of foreign mercenaries,have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation⁢ in the region.

“ther can be‍ no military⁢ solution to this ⁤conflict,” ⁣a statement from the Department of⁤ International Relations and⁤ Cooperation emphasized. “It ⁤must be⁢ resolved peacefully, through a Syrian-owned and Syrian-led inclusive dialog.”

south Africa reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the conflict, in line with UN Security Council ⁢Resolution 2254 (2015).

the South ⁤African ​government also expressed solidarity⁢ with the Syrian peopel, who have ​endured immense suffering since the conflict erupted in 2011.

“We call⁣ on all parties⁣ to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law‌ and protect civilians, especially women and children,”​ the statement added. “The reported use of heavy artillery ⁣in⁤ populated areas continues to place innocent lives in danger.”

The ⁤attacks, carried out by Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), a‍ UN-designated‍ terrorist association, ​and a​ coalition of foreign mercenaries, have drawn sharp criticism⁤ from the⁣ South African government.

“There can be no military solution to this conflict,” emphasized a statement ​from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation. “It must​ be ​resolved peacefully, through a Syrian-owned and Syrian-led inclusive ⁣dialog.”
