South African coach explains why Percy Tau was not called up
South African national team coach Hugo Bruce has justified the continued absence of Al-Ahli player Percy Tau from the Bafana Bafana camp as they prepare for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The South African national team is scheduled to play Uganda on November 15 in the fifth round of the African Nations Qualifiers and will play South Sudan in the sixth round on the 19th.

Bruce said in a press conference statement: “As you know, Percy Tau no longer sits on the bench regularly, and I mentioned two months ago that the atmosphere at Al-Ahly club was not positive for him, because they wanted to sell him.”
He added: “There are also critics on social media who are not happy with his performance with the South African national team.”
He continued: “I don’t think it’s time for Percy Tau to be with the South African national team, but that doesn’t mean he’ll never come back.”
The South African coach concluded: “I hope Tau can move to another club and be in a more positive environment so he can perform at the level we aspire to see from him.”
