The 2026 AFL Gather Round has set a new attendance record in South Australia, drawing a total of 270,018 fans across the four-day event. This figure surpasses the previous record of 269,506 set during the event’s 2025 iteration.

The milestone was finalized on Sunday, April 12, 2026, when 47,319 spectators attended the match between Port Adelaide and St Kilda at the Adelaide Oval. The event, now in its fourth edition, served as a major economic driver for the state, utilizing venues in Adelaide, Norwood, and the Barossa region.

Event Scale and Venue Distribution

The festival of football featured matches played across three primary locations: Adelaide Oval, Norwood Oval, and Barossa Park. The event integrated sporting competitions with a broader schedule of community events, fan experiences, and entertainment throughout the surrounding regions.

I’m pleased to report it has delivered another record attendance. More than 270 thousand people flocked to games at Adelaide Oval, Norwood and the Barossa, and many tens of thousands more attended associated events like the Norwood Food & Wine Festival and festivities in the Barossa.
