South Carolina vs. Wofford Preview

No. 19 South Carolina is on a strong winning streak in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They have won four consecutive SEC games, a feat they have not achieved since 2012. These victories include wins against three ranked opponents: Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Missouri.

Linebacker Debo Williams emphasized the need for focus, stating they are not a mediocre team. Defensive lineman Alex Huntley echoed this by insisting the team must prepare the same way for Wofford, despite their status as a six-touchdown underdog.

Wofford, an FCS program from Spartanburg, South Carolina, has lost 17 straight games to South Carolina. Their past success against FBS teams has been limited, maintaining a close game only once in the last 13 matchups.

Wofford coach Shawn Watson recognized the challenge, praising South Carolina’s chemistry and performance. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has excelled recently, passing for over 1,010 yards with ten touchdowns in the last four games.

This game will also mark an emotional farewell for South Carolina’s seniors at Williams-Brice Stadium. Coach Shane Beamer expressed his feelings about saying goodbye to these players.

Additionally, senior punter Kai Kroeger leads the SEC with a 47.7-yard average. After football, he looks to join a federal law enforcement agency.

Lastly, Beamer received a warm message from Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish. Rucker offered support for the university band’s trip to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, illustrating a strong community bond.
