South L.A. Man Faces Life in Prison for String of violent Parking Lot Robberies
Los angeles, CA – A 21-year-old man from South Los Angeles is facing life in prison after being charged with a series of armed robberies targeting shoppers in parking lots across Los Angeles and orange Counties. Oshae Pollard, a resident of teh Manchester Square neighborhood, was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of committing at least three armed robberies and one attempted robbery between August and September.
Pollard’s alleged crime spree culminated in a brazen daylight shooting at the South Coast Plaza shopping mall in Costa mesa on September 22nd. According to a federal affidavit, Pollard allegedly approached a victim as they were getting into thier car, demanding their watch, ring, and car at gunpoint. When the victim refused, Pollard allegedly shot them twice – once in the hand and once in the thigh – before fleeing the scene.
The federal complaint against Pollard,announced by the Justice Department on Thursday,charges him with interference with commerce by robbery and use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. When the other victim attempted to flee in their Ferrari, Pollard allegedly fired a shot that narrowly missed them.
if convicted on all charges, Pollard faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The investigation into these crimes involved the U.S. Attorney’s office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives, and the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
