Drug Arrest in South Philadelphia Rattles Community
A drug arrest in South Philadelphia Tuesday morning has stirred unease among residents. Federal agents, including those from the Drug Enforcement Management and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, conducted the operation near 7th and Snyder streets around 7 a.m.
The DEA confirmed that enforcement Removal Operations, a division of ICE, assisted in the arrest. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the arrested individual or details regarding a warrant.
The South Philadelphia drug arrest has impacted the neighborhood, according to residents.
“I feel so bad because this is the first time that this happened,” said a neighbor identified as Melo.
Melo expressed fear in the wake of the incident, adding, “but what ever is going to happen is going to happen.”
