Malaga Authorities Urge British Tourists to Behave Modestly
Authorities in Malaga, southern Spain, have launched a campaign to educate tourists about appropriate behavior when visiting the city. The initiative includes posters reminding visitors to dress properly and respect local customs.
The campaign, which targets British tourists, features four posters with messages in English and Spanish. The posters were shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by local tourism authorities.
Malaga, located on the Costa del Sol, has long been a popular destination for British tourists due to its affordable flights and warm climate. However, local residents have expressed frustration with the behavior of some visitors, prompting the city to take action.

The posters address specific issues, such as dressing properly and respecting pedestrian areas. One poster reads, “Dress properly” and “For the sake of courtesy and hygiene, always wear a jacket when on the street or in public places.”
Another poster targets the use of electric scooters, reminding visitors to use them in designated areas and follow local regulations. The message reads, “Pavements are for pedestrians only” and “If you use a scooter or bike, use it in legally designated areas and in accordance with the ordinances of the city.”
By launching this campaign, Malaga authorities aim to promote respectful behavior among tourists and improve the overall experience for both visitors and locals.
