Space Pioneer Pawan Goenka Honored with Padma Shri
In a notable recognition of his profound contributions to the space sector, Pawan Kumar Goenka, an engineer turned administrator, has been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri. A distinguished figure in the realm of space regulation and promotion, Goenka’s dedicated efforts have significantly propelled India’s burgeoning space industry.
Currently serving as the chairperson of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (INSPACe), Goenka is also helming the Steering Committee for Advancing Local Value-Add and Employment (SCALE). His visionary leadership extends to his role as the chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras.
Goenka’s journey, marked by his alma maters IIT-Kanpur, Cornell University, and Harvard Business School, has seen him leave an indelible mark on the automotive sector. He steered Mahindra Group as its CEO and led the development of the iconic Scorpio SUV.
