Spanish Royal Family Mourns Princess Irene of Greece
Madrid – King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía attended a memorial service Saturday for Queen Sofía‘s sister, Princess irene of Greece. Teh service was held at the Greek Orthodox cathedral of Saint Andrew and Saint Demetrius in Madrid.
Other members of the Spanish royal family, including Elena and Cristina of Borbón, also attended. Former King Juan Carlos I, who has resided in Abu Dhabi since August 2020, did not attend due to medical advice against travel. He will also not attend the funeral and burial in Athens on Monday.
