Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.

Job Description
GM Defense is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual looking for an opportunity that will allow them to showcase their talents and have an impact in a strategic growth area. Our ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity and demonstrates problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.
Responsibilities
- Develop system requirements for new control features
- Create software for basic functions using MATLAB, Simulink, and C
- Perform integration and verification testing as directed by lead engineers
- Support calibration of controls to optimize performance
- Collaborate with program and vehicle performance teams to assist in vehicle demo builds
- Problem-solve electrical and integration issues on prototype assets
- Provide periodic status updates to program team
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Engineering
- Must be graduating between December 2027 and July 2028
- Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
What will give you a Competitive Edge:
- Participation in Formula SAE, Baja, EcoCar, or similar professional organizations
- Member of ROTC or other military group
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- MS Office products for issue tracking and resolution
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, C, and/or Python
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation:
- The salary range for this role is $4,300 – $4,700 monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.
- GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
