Training young people’s game development skills…More than 70 people participated
The Smilegate Future Lab consortium stated on the 4th that the two-day “2024 Competition Youth Game Fun” held from October 31 to November 1 this year was successfully concluded.
Smilegate Future Lab is a Smilegate Foundation that provides creative education for the future generation.
Gyeonggi Youth Game Fun is an event jointly organized by Future Lab and Gyeonggi Content Promotion Agency, aiming to provide young people with opportunities to improve their game development capabilities. 70 students from high schools and universities in Gyeonggi Province participated in this year’s Game Jam and developed prototypes of various games in two days.
On the first day, Li Deyu, a professor at Qingkang University of Culture and Industry, gave a lecture on the theme of “Game Worldview and Background Setting Methods.” After that, in the subsequent game development time, game prototypes of various types such as action, role-playing game (RPG), and shooting were produced.
In addition, students participating in the event also had conversations with game developers affiliated with Smilegate and listened to suggestions on game development such as ways to improve game completion.
On the second day of the event, after playing 15 games developed by participants, awards were given in six areas including concept, story, character, design, presentation, and optimization.
Future Lab team leader Huang Zhuxun said: “Future Lab will prepare seminars that will help strengthen game development capabilities and continue to support the next generation to become competitive.”
