BREMEN, Germany (May ‌22, 2025) – Zoos remain a contentious topic, ​with public opinion split between those who view them as vital for species preservation and those⁣ who​ consider them unethical.A recent survey explores these diverging viewpoints, revealing nuanced perspectives on animal welfare and the ⁢role of zoos in society.

The survey indicates a near-even split: 49% of‌ respondents reported ​neither visiting a zoo in⁣ the past⁤ year nor planning to visit one this year. conversely, 41% had recently visited a zoo or expressed interest in doing so. The remaining 9% where undecided, according‌ to the ​survey.

Among those who frequent ⁤zoos, the primary motivation, cited ‌by 58%, is leisure time spent with family and friends. Another 38% indicated an interest in ⁣observing the variety of animal species.
