Spicing Up the States: Daesang Brings Korea’s Kimchi Frenzy to America
kimchi competition in the USA”/>South Korea’s Daesang Corp said on Monday that it held the “Jongga Kimchi Blast” event in the United States to promote kimchi and elevate Korean food culture.
The annual event, which includes cooking competitions and cultural activities, is held around the world to raise awareness of kimchi.
In June, Daesang held similar events in France and the UK.
On October 24, a kimchi cooking competition was held at the Institute for Culinary Education (ICE) in New York, attracting 381 participants, including professional chefs, teachers, and accountants, with eight finalists selected for the final round .
Food stylist Maia Bhaumik won the competition with a dish combining cornbread and kimchi.
In addition, on October 26, Daesang held a cultural experience of making kimchi at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey.
