Sony Pictures Animation has officially announced a new release date for the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third installment in the Oscar-winning animated trilogy. Fans will now have to wait a little longer, with the film set to swing into theaters on June 25, 2027, a three-week delay from its previously scheduled June 4, 2027, release.
A Familiar Creative Team Returns for Miles Morales’ Next Chapter
The upcoming Marvel adventure boasts a powerhouse creative team, with returning directors Bob Persichetti (spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Justin K. Thompson (Spider-Man: Across the spider-Verse) at the helm. The screenplay is penned by the dynamic duo Phil Lord & Chris Miller (Spider-Verse and LEGO Movie franchises), alongside David callaham (The Expendables films, Across the Spider-Verse). Producing the film are Lord, Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh, with Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg serving as executive producers.
What We Know So Far About Miles’ Multiversal Journey
while details surrounding Miles Morales and his fellow Spider-people’s continued adventures across the multiverse remain under wraps, the core cast is expected to return. Shameik Moore is slated to reprise his starring role as Miles Morales. He will be joined by Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, Karn Soni as Spider-Man India, and Jharrel Jerome as Prowler.
Filmmakers shared insights with the CinemaCon audience earlier this year, hinting that the narrative will find Miles Morales on the run, perhaps facing challenges where even allies like Gwen Stacy might struggle to aid him. The cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse saw Miles discovering a multiversal counterpart who had transformed into the villainous Prowler in a lawless New York City, setting the stage for a complex and perilous journey.
