Spider-Man/Superman: Marvel & DC Crossover – Covers & Story Details Revealed

Spider-Man/Superman: Marvel & DC Crossover – Covers & Story Details Revealed

March 7, 2026 Marcus Rodriguez - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The comic book world is bracing for a collision of titans this spring, as DC and Marvel once again unite their iconic heroes for a series of crossover events. Following the release of DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1 in March, Marvel will launch Spider-Man/Superman #1 in April, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man team-up.

The upcoming issues aren’t simply rehashes of past encounters. Both publishers are pulling out all the stops, assembling impressive rosters of writers and artists to deliver a multi-faceted exploration of the dynamic between these two beloved characters. Marvel’s offering, in particular, boasts a staggering array of creative talent, promising a diverse range of stories within a single issue.

A significant element of the anticipation surrounding Spider-Man/Superman #1 stems from the sheer volume of variant covers. Marvel has revealed a collection of striking designs, including homage covers paying tribute to classic comic book moments. Giuseppe Camuncoli’s cover is inspired by Civil War #1, while David Marquez’s evokes the spirit of Power Man and Iron Fist #50, and Sanford Greene’s draws inspiration from Infinity Gauntlet #1. Additional covers feature artwork by Adam Hughes, depicting Black Cat facing off against Power Girl, and Ivan Talavera, showcasing Silk and Supergirl.

Beyond the visual spectacle, the core narrative of Spider-Man/Superman #1, penned by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Pepe Larraz, promises a compelling mystery. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the publishers have teased a universe-spanning threat involving Brainiac and Doctor Octopus, drawing both heroes into a complex conspiracy uncovered by intrepid reporters Clark Kent and Peter Parker. This initial storyline will be complemented by a series of backup tales, further expanding the crossover’s scope.

The creative lineup for these backup stories is nothing short of all-star. Geoff Johns, returning to Marvel after a two-decade absence, will collaborate with Gary Frank on a story involving the Super- and Spider-families, facing a crisis orchestrated by Mysterio. Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman, reuniting after their acclaimed run on Thor, will introduce a new “War of the Realms” storyline featuring Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor and Wonder Woman. Louise Simonson, co-creator of Steel, teams with Todd Nauck for a clash between John Henry Irons and the Hobgoblin.

The creative energy doesn’t stop there. Joe Kelly and Humberto Ramos will deliver a campus crossover featuring Gwen Stacy and Lana Lang, while Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, the creators of Miles Morales, reunite for a team-up between Spider-Man (Miles) and Superman. Stephanie Phillips and Phil Noto will explore the bond between Ghost-Spider and Supergirl, and Jeph Loeb and Jim Cheung will offer their own unique take on the iconic duo.

This ambitious project arrives at a moment of renewed interest in shared universes and cross-publisher collaborations. The initial Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man crossover in 1976 was a landmark event, demonstrating the potential for these characters to coexist and captivate audiences beyond their respective universes. The current initiative builds on that legacy, aiming to deliver a fresh and engaging experience for both longtime fans and new readers.

The sheer scale of the creative involvement suggests Marvel and DC are treating this crossover as more than just a novelty. The participation of industry heavyweights like Meltzer, Johns, Aaron, and Bendis signals a commitment to crafting stories that are both respectful of the characters’ histories and innovative in their approach. The diverse range of backup tales indicates a desire to explore different facets of the Marvel and DC universes, offering something for every type of comic book enthusiast.

While the full extent of the crossover’s impact remains to be seen, Spider-Man/Superman #1 is poised to be a significant event in the comic book landscape. The combination of stunning artwork, compelling storylines, and a star-studded creative team has generated considerable buzz, and the issue is likely to be a highly sought-after collectible for fans of both heroes. The release in April will undoubtedly be a focal point for comic book retailers and collectors alike, marking another chapter in the ongoing saga of these two iconic figures.
