Spinning to Victory: Pat Sajak Claims First Hosting Emmy in 25 Years for ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Swan Song
Pat Sajak Wins Outstanding Game Show Host at Creative Arts Emmy Awards
Pat Sajak, the long-time host of Wheel of Fortune, took home the award for Outstanding Game Show Host at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday. This marks Sajak’s first win in the category since 1998 and his fourth having previously won in 1993, 1997, and 1998.
Sajak was not present to accept the award, which comes as he prepares to leave Wheel of Fortune after 40 years. He has been nominated for the award a total of 23 times and has also won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards.
The veteran game show host was up against stiff competition in the category, including Celebrity Family Feud‘s Steve Harvey, Jeopardy!‘s Ken Jennings, The Weakest Link‘s Jane Lynch, and last year’s winner, Password‘s Keke Palmer. The late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek was also recognized for his final season when he won the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host.
Although Sajak is leaving Wheel of Fortune, he will return for a final season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune on ABC.
