Spotify Camp Nou Update: Barcelona Begins Installing Seats in Third Tier
- The preliminary seating installation has started in the Lateral section, located directly opposite the Tribuna area, accompanied by active waterproofing work in the upper zone.
- Club projections indicate that a partial opening of the third tier is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
- Alongside the upper-tier seating installation, progress continues on the VIP hospitality areas positioned between the second and third tiers.
The preliminary seating installation has started in the Lateral section, located directly opposite the Tribuna area, accompanied by active waterproofing work in the upper zone. The stadium returned to limited operations last November following a multi-year closure for construction, operating currently at a reduced capacity of approximately 62,000 spectators while building work proceeds under lead construction company Limak.
Staged Reopening and Capacity Targets
Club projections indicate that a partial opening of the third tier is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Because full completion of the upper tier will extend into next season, FC Barcelona cannot operate the venue at its full target capacity of roughly 105,000 supporters during the current campaign. The phased rollout of the seating tiers is designed to gradually increase attendance figures as structural milestones are achieved. The complete renovation of Spotify Camp Nou is scheduled to conclude in the summer of 2028, with the club aiming for full operational capacity by the 2028/29 season in time to host the UEFA Champions League final in 2029.
Commercial Spaces and Exterior Lighting Tests
Alongside the upper-tier seating installation, progress continues on the VIP hospitality areas positioned between the second and third tiers. Following the summer installation of protective glass panels in those zones, the hospitality suites are moving closer to operational status. Financial planning for the upcoming period anticipates a €60 million increase in stadium-generated revenue, driven by the activation of these commercial zones and expanded seating sections. Meanwhile, evening lighting tests have been conducted on the stadium’s structural framework, utilizing LED panels capable of displaying variable colors across the exterior facade as installation work continues across the remaining sections.
