Spotify Connects UK Listeners to Live Events via Skiddle

April 9, 2025 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Tech

Skiddle and Spotify Partner to Integrate Live Music Discovery

LONDON – Skiddle, a U.K.-based ticketing platform, has announced a partnership with Spotify ‌to integrate digital music streaming with live event discovery.⁣ The collaboration aims ‍to connect Spotify users⁤ with concerts, club nights, and festivals featuring ‌artists they follow.

The integration, launched Wednesday, allows Spotify ‌users ‍to find upcoming performances directly through artist profiles. A new “events” tab provides access⁤ to browse dates and purchase tickets via Skiddle, all without leaving the Spotify application.

Enhanced Visibility‌ for Event Organizers

Skiddle anticipates the integration will provide event ⁣organizers⁢ with increased visibility⁢ and ⁤access to a broader audience.

Duncan ‍King, Head of Festivals and Partnerships at Skiddle, stated, “Our⁤ team ⁣has put a lot of⁣ work into bringing the Spotify integration to‍ life, so it’s fantastic to⁢ see it now live. this collaboration opens up a new and⁣ exciting marketing channel‌ for our partner promoters, seamlessly connecting the Skiddle platform with highly engaged music fans on Spotify.”

Spotify’s Vision for Live‌ Music Discovery

Spotify⁢ views⁢ the⁤ partnership as a step toward ensuring users ‍don’t miss ‌live music events.

We are‍ envisioning‍ a ⁣world where no Spotify listener ⁣misses a concert because they‌ didn’t know it was⁣ happening.

Jon Ostrow, Spotify

jon Ostrow, Head of⁤ Comics and Live Music at Spotify, ‍said their ⁣partnership with Skiddle brings them closer ⁤to realizing this ‌vision by ‌ensuring that music fans in ‍the U.K. can discover ⁤more local concerts on Spotify through features like “Concerts Near You.”

Accessing the ⁤Integration

Event ⁣organizers can⁢ access the new integration by registering‌ for a free Skiddle Promotion Center account and listing their events on the platform.

Skiddle’s Expanding ⁢Network

The Spotify integration joins Skiddle’s⁤ existing ⁢partnerships with‍ concert discovery platforms such as Songkick and Bandsintown.

King added,⁢ “This is just ⁤the⁤ beginning – the first of‍ many technological partnerships ‌designed to help our promoters sell more⁤ tickets while ⁣making it easier then ever for fans to discover and book the⁤ gigs they love. We are already integrated into Songkick and Bandsintown, and⁤ we continue ‍to expand our integration network to ensure that events‍ listed on Skiddle are visible in more places, ⁢to⁤ more ‍people, at the right time.”

Spotify’s Continued Expansion into Live Events

For Spotify, the partnership represents the latest effort to expand its offerings in the live events space. In recent years, ‍the streaming ⁢service has broadened its focus ⁤on concert discovery and ticketing.

In 2020, Spotify partnered with Songkick, whose concert discovery‌ service was ‍acquired by Warner Music Group in 2017,‌ to launch a virtual‌ events feature on its platform. In 2022, Spotify launched a new “Live Events” flow, ‌replacing its previous “Concert Hub” feature. That ⁢same year, the company began testing direct concert ticket sales to ‍fans via ⁤a dedicated site, “Spotify Tickets.”

Though,Spotify has faced challenges with its⁣ direct ticketing initiatives. In ⁣2024, the company scaled back⁣ its own⁣ ticketing efforts, focusing ‍instead ‍on integrations with third-party companies. Spotify integrated⁣ Bandsintown listings that same year, along ‍with⁤ its existing Ticketmaster listings on the platform.

Ticketing Discussions with Major Players

Simultaneously occurring, Live ⁣Nation President and CEO⁤ Michael⁤ Rapino recently confirmed that the ⁤company was ⁤in ticketing discussions with Spotify, Apple, and Amazon.

Rapino stated in‍ February, “We have worked with all three ‌ [Spotify, Apple, and Amazon] trying to find a model ‌that can work for us ‍and them, and [we] assume they‌ also speak to others.”

Bloomberg has reported that Spotify’s ⁤anticipated “Supremium” subscription tier could⁣ include early access to⁢ concert tickets, along with AI-powered remix features and higher-fidelity audio.
