Spotify Connects UK Listeners to Live Events via Skiddle
Skiddle and Spotify Partner to Integrate Live Music Discovery
LONDON – Skiddle, a U.K.-based ticketing platform, has announced a partnership with Spotify to integrate digital music streaming with live event discovery. The collaboration aims to connect Spotify users with concerts, club nights, and festivals featuring artists they follow.
The integration, launched Wednesday, allows Spotify users to find upcoming performances directly through artist profiles. A new “events” tab provides access to browse dates and purchase tickets via Skiddle, all without leaving the Spotify application.
Enhanced Visibility for Event Organizers
Skiddle anticipates the integration will provide event organizers with increased visibility and access to a broader audience.
Duncan King, Head of Festivals and Partnerships at Skiddle, stated, “Our team has put a lot of work into bringing the Spotify integration to life, so it’s fantastic to see it now live. this collaboration opens up a new and exciting marketing channel for our partner promoters, seamlessly connecting the Skiddle platform with highly engaged music fans on Spotify.”
Spotify’s Vision for Live Music Discovery
Spotify views the partnership as a step toward ensuring users don’t miss live music events.
We are envisioning a world where no Spotify listener misses a concert because they didn’t know it was happening.
jon Ostrow, Head of Comics and Live Music at Spotify, said their partnership with Skiddle brings them closer to realizing this vision by ensuring that music fans in the U.K. can discover more local concerts on Spotify through features like “Concerts Near You.”
Accessing the Integration
Event organizers can access the new integration by registering for a free Skiddle Promotion Center account and listing their events on the platform.
Skiddle’s Expanding Network
The Spotify integration joins Skiddle’s existing partnerships with concert discovery platforms such as Songkick and Bandsintown.
King added, “This is just the beginning – the first of many technological partnerships designed to help our promoters sell more tickets while making it easier then ever for fans to discover and book the gigs they love. We are already integrated into Songkick and Bandsintown, and we continue to expand our integration network to ensure that events listed on Skiddle are visible in more places, to more people, at the right time.”
Spotify’s Continued Expansion into Live Events
For Spotify, the partnership represents the latest effort to expand its offerings in the live events space. In recent years, the streaming service has broadened its focus on concert discovery and ticketing.
In 2020, Spotify partnered with Songkick, whose concert discovery service was acquired by Warner Music Group in 2017, to launch a virtual events feature on its platform. In 2022, Spotify launched a new “Live Events” flow, replacing its previous “Concert Hub” feature. That same year, the company began testing direct concert ticket sales to fans via a dedicated site, “Spotify Tickets.”
Though,Spotify has faced challenges with its direct ticketing initiatives. In 2024, the company scaled back its own ticketing efforts, focusing instead on integrations with third-party companies. Spotify integrated Bandsintown listings that same year, along with its existing Ticketmaster listings on the platform.
Ticketing Discussions with Major Players
Simultaneously occurring, Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino recently confirmed that the company was in ticketing discussions with Spotify, Apple, and Amazon.
Rapino stated in February, “We have worked with all three [Spotify, Apple, and Amazon] trying to find a model that can work for us and them, and [we] assume they also speak to others.”
Bloomberg has reported that Spotify’s anticipated “Supremium” subscription tier could include early access to concert tickets, along with AI-powered remix features and higher-fidelity audio.
