Spreading Joy and Hope: SSG Choo Shin-soo Brings Smiles to Children at ‘Pine Tree Home’ Welfare Center
SSG Landers Choo Shin-soo Continues Good Deeds Until the End of His Career
SSG Landers Choo Shin-soo, who will end his brilliant career as a player at the end of this season, continued his good deeds as a player until the last moment.
The SSG team announced on the 2nd, “On the 1st, Choo Shin-soo visited ‘Pinetree Home’, a child welfare center located in Bupyeong, Incheon through the ‘And&&Choo’ program, and spoke about the children’s dreams and hopes.”
Conducting the ‘And&&Chu’ Program
Shin-soo Chu is conducting the ‘And&&Chu’ program with the club, a fan service and social contribution activity in which he directly participates, to mark his last active career this season. As part of this, a meaningful time is organized for children in the local area.
Dream Mentoring Session
Choo Shin-su gave warm advice to the children through the ‘Dream Mentoring’ session. We supported the kids’ futures by seeing how they were able to grow in a tough environment during their minor league days and the mentality and methods that enabled them to succeed as baseball players representing Korea for a long time.
This mentoring was held in 2021 in the ’Dream Study Room’ built with a donation from Chu Shin-su. It became an even more meaningful time as the children I met during my volunteer work at the orphanage in 2016 participated.
Recreational Activities and Gifts
Afterwards, Chu Shin-soo and the children made memories together through various recreational activities, and autographed uniforms, hats and logo balls were given as prizes. All participating children received children’s gloves as gifts.
A special dinner was also prepared for the children. Chu Shin-su made 100 servings of LA galbi and beef bulgogi and distributed them directly to the children and ate them with them.
Hand Printing Ceremony
On this day, a hand printing ceremony was also held to commemorate Chu Shin-su’s membership in the ‘Honor Society’. The ‘Honor Society’ is a group of donors who have donated over 100 million won through Korea’s Community Chest. Choo Shin-su was recognized for his contributions by donating more than 1.45 billion won over the past five years.
Chu Shin-su’s Message
“I’m happy to be able to give back to society the love I received through baseball in this way,” Chu Shin-soo said, adding, “Children in difficult circumstances also need an environment where they can fulfill their dreams.”
“I hope that the kids I meet during this time will not give up and achieve their dreams,” she said, “I hope my story can be of some help in that process.”
