Springsteen Cork Revenue Boost – 55% Increase
Páirc Uí Chaoimh Stadium Reports Significant Revenue Increase in 2024
Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork,Ireland,experienced a 55% surge in revenue,reaching €5.55 million for the year ending September 30, 2024, according to recently filed accounts.
This ample increase was largely driven by two major events held in May 2024: a sold-out concert featuring Bruce Springsteen and a highly attended Munster Hurling Championship game against Limerick. Approximately 40,000 fans attended the Springsteen concert.
Financial Performance and Loss Reduction
The stadium firm, Páirc Uí Chaoimh CTR (PUC), reported a 29% reduction in pre-tax losses, decreasing from €2.1 million in 2023 to €1.9 million in 2024. Revenues increased by €1.93 million, rising from €3.62 million to €5.55 million over the 12-month period.
PUC also achieved a positive swing in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), posting a profit of €582,491 compared to a loss of €331,561 in 2023 – an improvement of €914,052.
Stadium Costs and Funding
Despite the positive financial results, Páirc Uí Chaoimh continues to bear significant costs related to its 2017 redevelopment. Non-cash depreciation costs amounted to €1.52 million, and loan interest totaled €957,874 in 2024.
The stadium’s redevelopment,which cost €96 million,was financed through a combination of sources,including the Cork County Board’s finances,a €20 million grant from Cumann Lúthchleas Gael,grants from the Department of Sport and the Munster Council (€34.64 million combined), bank loans, and fundraising initiatives like long-term ticket sales.
Naming Rights and Sponsorship
In 2023, Páirc Uí Chaoimh was rebranded as SuperValu Páirc Uí chaoimh following a 10-year naming rights sponsorship agreement with the SuperValu retail chain. The sponsorship is estimated to be worth approximately €250,000 annually to Cork GAA.
