Square Enix Unveils Killer Inn, a Multiplayer Murder Mystery Game
Square Enix, in collaboration with tactic Studios, has announced Killer Inn, a new murder mystery game. The multiplayer title, revealed at the Summer Game Fest livestream, departs from Square enixs traditional RPG fare, offering a social deduction experience akin to Among Us but with a deadly twist.
In Killer Inn, 24 players find themselves in a sprawling hotel, where they must identify the killers among them while avoiding becoming victims themselves. The gameplay blends deduction with action, as players can use weapons to eliminate suspected wolves.
Matches begin with players divided into “lambs” and “wolves.” Lambs complete tasks to earn tokens for items and weapons, while wolves secretly eliminate players. Upon discovering a body, lambs can find clues left by the killer. Unlike Among Us, Killer Inn forgoes group discussions, encouraging players to take direct action against suspected killers, risking accidental elimination of innocent teammates.
Lambs can also win by assembling four keys to escape the island. Safe rooms with hotel staff offer protection, as staff members will identify wolves who attack lambs in their sight.
players can select from 25 unique characters, each with distinct appearances and abilities that evolve during the match. For instance, Winston the surgeon becomes more lethal with knives, while the Otaku gains health from finding clues and resists status effects. Levels reset between matches.
What’s next
While a specific release date is pending, a closed beta test for Killer Inn will be available on Steam soon.
