Squelette Releases Soir d’Orage via Primator Crew and Longshot Music
The Paris-based band returned with a six-track collection of punchy fight music that incorporates atmospheric elements and occasional bursts of new wave melody. The first taste of the release is already available to listen to on YouTube. The EP concludes with a haunted instrumental track that isn’t even remotely oi.
Band History and Prior Releases Leading to Autumn 2026
Squelette, whose name translates from French to skeleton, has been active since 2016. The group made a broader impression in 2019 with their self-titled debut EP, which delivered raw old-school French Oi! music. Four years later, the band released their album Fin de partie in 2023. Fin de partie showcased the band’s continued roots in traditional French street-punk alongside an expanding incorporation of melodic song structures.
French Cold Oi Movement Influences Modern Street-Punk
The release arrives amid a wider international interest in contemporary French street-punk, a sound sometimes referred to as cold oi. This style combines traditional Oi! music with goth and post-punk influences, drawing historical inspiration from pioneering 1970s French punk outfit Métal Urbain and underground legends Rixe. This distinctive atmospheric punk sound has seen influence spread to international acts such as Quebec band Béton Armé and Edmonton band Home Front.
