The highly anticipated third and final season of “Squid Game” arrives this week, continuing the story after the dramatic conclusion of Season 2. The role of Player 456, Gi-hun (Lee jung-jae), remains central as he strives to dismantle the deadly competition.
Season 3,consisting of six episodes,sees Gi-hun and his allies attempting to infiltrate the control room and spark a rebellion. The role of The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who deceived Gi-hun by concealing his true identity, adds another layer of complexity. Despite witnessing the death of his friend Jung-bae (Lee seo-hwan),Gi-hun is determined to end the games,where surviving players risk their lives for a massive cash prize.

Writer/director Hwang dong-hyuk has indicated that this season will delve into the darkest aspects of human nature. the role of the games themselves will be to expose the participants’ deepest desires and vulnerabilities.
Hwang told Entertainment Weekly that he aimed to introduce games that “could really show the lowest bottom of human beings… I wanted very intense games to bring out the bottom parts of human nature.”
Hwang added, “Season 3 is indeed a finale” that will focus on how people “preserve their humanity amidst this intense competition in this capitalistic era.”
Another key plot point involves a pregnant Jun-hee (Jo yu-ri), whose baby, according to Hwang, will play “a very crucial role” this final season.
