Updated June 18, 2025
SRAM has announced the release of updated SRAM Rival AXS XPLR and SRAM Force AXS groupsets, including 13-speed options for both Force and Rival level XPLR models. The new SRAM Rival AXS XPLR aims to deliver high-end performance at a more accessible price for both road and gravel cyclists.
The most notable upgrade to the SRAM Rival AXS XPLR is the new hood and lever shape, mirroring the design of the higher-end RED groupset. this updated design improves braking performance and ergonomics, allowing riders to maintain better control from the hoods. The levers are still carbon, a feature not always expected at the Rival level.

While the SRAM Rival AXS XPLR replicates the braking performance of the RED levers, it does lack the bonus button featured on the RED groupset. Though, riders can add wireless blips for additional control or upgrade to Force or RED levers, as AXS components are cross-compatible.
The SRAM Rival AXS XPLR groupset also introduces 13-speeds, along with a full mount requirement for the rear derailleur. This design, borrowed from mountain bike derailleurs, enhances strength and eliminates adjustment screws. The 13-speed setup includes a 10-46 cassette.
The full mount system requires frames with a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) interface. Bikes without UDH can still use older 12-speed XPLR or Apex AXS derailleurs.
The SRAM Rival AXS XPLR groupset is available now through SRAM retailers and comes stock on complete bikes. The complete groupset is priced at $1,743.00 / €1,740.00 / £1,552.00.
