Updated June 7, 2025
ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions’ star wide receiver Amon-Ra St.Brown, a First-Team All-Pro, underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee this offseason. As a result, he has been sidelined during off-season practices. Though, St. Brown anticipates a full recovery in time for training camp next month.
“I had a surgery on my knee after the season just to clean some stuff up, so I’ve been rehabbing that, but I should be good to go for training camp,” St. Brown said Thursday. The 25-year-old is heading into his fifth season and is considered among the NFL’s elite receivers. His role as a key player is undeniable.
Last season, St. Brown started all 17 games, leading Detroit with 1,263 receiving yards, 115 receptions, and 12 receiving touchdowns. The 2021 fourth-round pick has earned three Pro Bowl selections and ranks third in team history with 19 games exceeding 100 receiving yards.
Fresh off a 15-win season, St. Brown emphasized the team’s singular focus: a Super Bowl victory. The Detroit Lions’ Super Bowl aspirations are high.
”At this point,we want to win a Super Bowl; that’s it,” St. Brown said. “Obviously, we’ve got to make the playoffs to win the Super Bowl, but that’s understood by everyone, so, we want to win the Super Bowl. Plain and simple.”
Following consecutive NFC North titles, the Lions face a challenging schedule, including five prime-time games and the annual Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Packers on Nov. 27, plus a Christmas Day game at Minnesota.
Coach Dan Campbell and St.Brown expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season and the challenges it presents as they prepare for training camp.Campbell addressed the tough schedule.
“I’m excited for the way it’s laid out. I love the home games, I love the road games, I love the night games — not as much,” Campbell said. “We’ve got some 1 o’clock this year, which is good. But, we’ll be ready. I don’t care how it lines up. We’ve got to be ready to go, and we will be.”
Campbell also provided an update on linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, who suffered a torn right ACL during last year’s Thanksgiving Day game. His return is anticipated in November.
“Conservatively? November. … Yeah, that’s probably the best way to say it. Probably November. Somewhere in there,” Campbell said.
Rodriguez, 26, recorded 43 tackles and 2.0 sacks in 10 games before his injury.
What’s next
The Lions will continue off-season preparations, with St. Brown focusing on his rehabilitation to ensure he’s ready to contribute significantly to the team’s Super Bowl push.
