The pairing brings together two distinct yet equally captivating sounds. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, led by the Grammy-nominated Troy Andrews, are celebrated for their infectious blend of New Orleans rock, funk and jazz. Andrews, described as “the premier ambassador of New Orleans music,” has previously graced stages including Madison Square Garden and even the White House, according to a Vina Robles news release.
Sharing the bill is St. Paul & The Broken Bones, the Alabama-based ensemble known for their electrifying live performances and Paul Janeway’s impassioned vocals. Formed in Birmingham in 2011, the band has become a staple at major music festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. They are currently supporting their sixth studio album, a record the release describes as melding “adventurous spirit with a return to soulful, song-focused roots.” The album, recorded at the legendary FAME Studios and produced by Eg White, incorporates “psych-funk grooves, gospel-tinged ballads, and cinematic rock flourishes.”
The tour, described as a run of “powerhouse performances,” will see the two bands sharing the stage for a series of dates across the West Coast this August. Supporting them will be singer-songwriter Tré Burt.
