St. Pete Approves $1.4 Million for Tropicana‍ Field Repairs

St. Petersburg, FL – The future of ​Tropicana ‌Field, home to the Tampa Bay Rays, remains uncertain, but the ​City of St. Petersburg is‌ taking steps to ensure the aging stadium remains functional. The city Council recently approved a $1.4 million expenditure for essential repairs to ‍the iconic dome.

The funds will ⁣address a range ⁣of issues, including roof leaks, plumbing problems, and outdated electrical systems.

“These repairs are critical to maintaining the safety and functionality of Tropicana Field,” said Mayor Ken Welch.⁢ “While we continue to explore long-term‍ solutions for the stadium, we have ‍a obligation to ensure it remains ⁣a viable​ venue for the Rays and other events.”

The decision comes as⁤ the Rays continue to seek a new stadium location, with potential ‍sites in both St. Petersburg and Tampa. The team’s lease at Tropicana Field expires in ⁢2027.
