St. Petersburg Adds NASCAR Trucks to IndyCar Weekend
NASCAR Trucks to Race on St. Petersburg Street Circuit in 2026
in a landmark decision, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will make history by competing on a street course for the first time ever at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in 2026. This event, a collaboration with IndyCar, will see the Trucks race on Saturday, February 28th, with IndyCar following on Sunday, March 1st, marking the IndyCar season opener for its 16th consecutive year.

The event is facilitated by a broadcast agreement with FOX Sports, covering both races. Kim Green, of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, emphasized the enhanced fan experiance, highlighting both IndyCar qualifying and the historic Truck series race on Saturday.
While the trucks and IndyCar compete in St. Petersburg, the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will simultaneously race at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.
Potential for expanded collaboration
NASCAR officials have indicated openness to further collaboration with IndyCar, citing strong existing relationships and shared broadcast partners. The st. petersburg event will serve as a pilot program to assess future joint ventures, building on previous triumphant co-promotions like events at Indianapolis and Iowa.
