Garmisch-Partenkirchen,Germany – Eva Pinkelnig launched her bid for another FIS Ski Jumping World Cup title with a bang,soaring to a second-place finish in the first of two night events in Garmisch-Partenkirchen,Germany.
The Austrian jumper, who dominated the World Cup circuit last season, narrowly missed out on victory, finishing just 1.8 points behind Slovenia’s Nika Križnar. Norway’s Anna Odine Strøm rounded out the podium, securing third place.

Oberstdorf, Germany – Austrian ski jumping star Eva Pinkelnig capped off 2024 with a thrilling third-place finish at the inaugural event of the Two Nights Tour, a new and exciting competition format. Pinkelnig soared to a new hill record of 137.5 meters on the HS142 Olympic Hill,securing her first podium of the season.
“It’s astonishing to end 2024 like this,” Pinkelnig exclaimed after the competition. “it’s been an amazing year, from my victory in Oberstdorf at the beginning of the year to this. The Two Nights Tour features a unique knockout format, with 30 athletes competing in head-to-head duels in the first round. the 15 winners advance to the second round,joined by five “lucky losers” who posted the highest scores among those who didn’t win their initial matchups.
Pinkelnig, who started the competition in fifth place, battled her way through the knockout rounds, ultimately securing a spot on the podium. Slovenian Nika Prevc took home the gold medal, followed by Norway’s Eirin Maria Kvandal in second.Fellow Austrian jumpers Lisa Eder and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger also had strong performances, finishing seventh and ninth respectively. Julia Mühlbacher secured a spot in the second round as a “lucky loser” and finished 19th overall. Sara Marita Kramer, though, was eliminated in the first round after losing her duel against Prevc.
The Two Nights Tour continues Wednesday in Oberstdorf, Germany, with qualification starting at 2:45 p.m.EST and the main competition at 4:15 p.m. EST.
