Hulu is set to debut Standing By, a new 2D-animated adult comedy series, on Aug.8. The show promises a humorous take on everyday human experiences through the eyes of guardian angels.
Creators Dan Levy, known for Sheep’s Creek, and Ally Pankiw, of Feel Good and The Great, describe Standing By as a look at the “hilarity, embarrassment, and melodrama of everyday life as observed by a team of judgmental, gossip-starved Guardian Angels.” The series was picked up in 2022.
The series boasts a notable voice cast. levy is joined by David Tennant, a two-time BAFTA nominee recognized for Doctor Who and DuckTales. Also lending their voices are Natalie Palamides (The powerpuff Girls), Glenn Close, a three-time Golden Globe winner, Poppy Liu (Hacks), and Samira Wiley (Orange Is the New Black).
Levy and Pankiw serve as creators and executive producers. Danielle Uhlarik (Solar Opposites) is the showrunner and also an executive producer. 20th Television Animation produces the series.
