Updated June 12,2025

Stanford Health Care is collaborating with Kivo Health to advance AI-driven virtual pulmonary rehabilitation, a move designed to improve outcomes for patients with Chronic obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Pulmonary rehabilitation is a key component of COPD management.
Pulmonary rehabilitation can cut hospitalizations by more than half; however, less than 3% of those who could benefit actually receive the treatment. Kivo Health CEO Victor Sadauskas emphasized the importance of the collaboration. He said the partnership shows a commitment to innovation and health equity. The goal is to transform COPD management, expand access, improve outcomes, and significantly reduce avoidable hospitalizations.
Leah Rosengaus, senior director of Digital Health at Stanford Health Care, said they are excited to work with Kivo Health to bring virtual pulmonary rehabilitation to COPD patients. She added that Stanford is dedicated to enhancing access to care and believes virtual pulmonary rehabilitation offers patients new ways to connect with services and support healing at home.
What’s next
the collaboration between Stanford Health Care and Kivo Health aims to set a new standard for COPD management, leveraging technology to bring vital pulmonary rehabilitation services to more patients in the comfort of their homes.
